Two of the most talked-about smart glasses right now are the Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarer Gen 2 and the Even G2 Display Smart Glasses. They're both excellent — but they're built for very different people. Here's an honest side-by-side.
Design & Wearability
The Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarer Gen 2 wins on aesthetics, full stop. It's indistinguishable from a regular pair of Ray-Bans. If you're self-conscious about wearing tech on your face, this is your answer.
The Even G2 has a more modern, tech-forward look. It's slim for a display-equipped device, but you'll notice the slightly thicker temples housing the projection hardware. Available in Dark Grey, Olive Green, Dark Brown, and other colourways across the G2 A and G2 B variants.
Display & AR Features
This is where they diverge completely:
- Ray-Ban Meta has no display. It's purely audio — speakers, mic, and camera. You interact with Meta AI via voice.
- Even G2 has a monochrome HUD that projects information (navigation, messages, translations, fitness stats) into your right eye's field of view. It's subtle enough for daily use and genuinely useful.
If you've ever wanted turn-by-turn directions without looking at your phone, the Even G2 delivers that. The Ray-Ban Meta cannot.
Audio Quality
Ray-Ban Meta has the edge here. Its open-ear speakers are tuned for music and calls, with solid bass for an open design. The Even G2's audio is functional but secondary to its display features.
Camera
Ray-Ban Meta includes a 12MP camera for photos and video — great for POV content. The Even G2 does not have a camera.
Battery Life
Both offer roughly 4–6 hours of active use with their respective charging cases extending total daily use significantly.
The Verdict
- Choose Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 if: you want stylish everyday glasses with great audio, AI assistant, and a camera.
- Choose Even G2 if: you want a real AR heads-up display for navigation, productivity, and notifications.
