If you've shopped with us for a while, you'll know 180by2 has carried a lot over the years: VR headsets, 360 cameras, cables, cases, trackers and the odd experiment. Some of that range has aged out. Manufacturers have moved on, and a fair number of listings had no stock and no way to be ordered. That isn't helpful when you're trying to decide what to buy.
So we're tightening things up. This post covers what's changing, what we'd recommend today, and who you'll be dealing with when you get in touch.
A clearer, more focused 180by2
We're removing end-of-life products from the store. A product has reached end of life for us when all of these are true:
- they're out of stock and can't be ordered;
- they haven't sold in over a year;
- the manufacturer or our supplier no longer sells them.
Old links won't leave you on an error page. When a product reaches end of life, its link takes you to the closest range we still carry.
What's left is a store built around three things we know well: smart glasses (Ray-Ban Meta, Oakley Meta, Meta Ray-Ban Display, RayNeo and XREAL), Meta Quest VR, and Insta360 360 and action cameras. For cameras, we're moving to one product page per model with the bundles as options, so you're not comparing near-identical listings side by side.
What we'd recommend right now
If you're buying today, here's where we'd start:
- Best all-round smart glasses: Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarer Gen 2. It's the classic frame with hands-free photos, video, calls, music and Meta AI. Choose the Clear to Grey Transitions lens option and one pair works indoors and out.
- For sport and outdoor use: Oakley Meta Vanguard, a wraparound performance design built for people who train and ride.

Better product selection
Going forward, a product earns its place on 180by2 if it's something we can actually get for you and support after you've bought it. In practice, that means:
- Current products first. Cameras stay listed while our supplier still offers them. Accessories stay listed while the manufacturer still sells them.
- Honest availability. Every product page tells you whether an item is in stock or ordered in for you. For ordered-in items, we confirm the lead time in writing before we accept your order.
- Fewer, clearer listings. One page per camera with its bundles as options, and no dead ends.
- Reviews where you can see them. Star ratings from customers now show on product pages.
Better customer support
Buying tech worth thousands of rands deserves straight answers, before and after checkout:
- Delivery you can plan around. In-stock orders are usually dispatched within 1–3 business days. After dispatch, Gauteng deliveries usually take 1–2 business days, other main centres 2–4, and regional and remote areas 3–7.
- Free standard shipping on South African orders of R2,000 or more. International delivery rates are shown at checkout.
- Pay over time. Split your purchase into 3 interest-free instalments with PayJustNow.
- Stock that moves. We're reconciling our stock levels so that what's on the site matches what's on the shelf, and so that orders leave the warehouse promptly.

Daliso Ngoma, Founder and Managing Director
Daliso founded African Technopreneurs in 2017 and leads its strategic direction across technology distribution, XR and immersive devices, and smart hardware. He guides product selection, market direction and strategic partnerships, and his focus is on connecting emerging products to practical use, then building the supplier and operational relationships needed to bring them to market.
Ayooluwa Uthman, Online Retail Manager
Ayooluwa leads the day-to-day online retail operation, including 180by2. He joined the team in 2022 and his work spans customer enquiries, product information and pricing, promotions, and keeping an eye on orders and stock. If you've read our Insta360 guides on this blog, you've already met him.
Ignatius van Jaarsveld, Growth Operations Manager
Ignatius leads growth operations, with a focus on the inventory, fulfilment and operational discipline behind dependable hardware distribution. He brings more than 30 years of management and operational experience across e-commerce, retail, logistics and inventory in South Africa, Zambia, Nigeria and Saudi Arabia. He's the one making sure our stock and fulfilment workflows stay clear and reliable.
Boitumelo Legodi, Operations Coordinator
Boitumelo helps oversee and connect the day-to-day operation: sales, customer service, import and export, order fulfilment, logistics and after-sales support. She brings a multidisciplinary background across photography, film and television, media, events and retail, and a technical foundation in Mechanical Engineering.
